Amber Flag – Promoting Wellbeing in Our School

We are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of all our pupils and staff. One of the ways we do this is by taking part in the Amber Flag Initiative, a nationwide programme run by Pieta House. This initiative recognises schools and organisations that actively promote and support mental wellbeing in their communities.

We were proud to be awarded our first Amber Flag in the 2023/2024 school year—a reflection of the strong emphasis we place on creating a caring and positive environment for everyone in The Mon. We are already planning and working towards renewing our Amber Flag in 2025/2026, as we continue to build on this important work.

As part of our Amber Flag efforts, we’ve introduced a number of wellbeing-focused initiatives, including:

  • Wellbeing Week – A special week dedicated to promoting positive mental health, kindness, gratitude, and self-care through fun and engaging activities.
  • Wellbeing Noticeboard – Updated regularly with resources, reminders, and positive messages to encourage mindfulness and emotional awareness in our daily school life.
  • Weekly Positive Quote – Shared each Monday during Raidió na Mon, inspiring pupils to start the week with a positive mindset.

These are just a few examples of how we foster a supportive school culture where pupils feel seen, heard, and valued. Wellbeing is at the heart of what we do, and we are proud to be part of a programme that helps build resilience, connection, and positivity in our school community.
