Sports, PE & Active School Flag
We are proud to be an Active School that places a strong emphasis on physical activity, health and wellbeing. Holding the Active School Flag, we promote a fun and inclusive environment where every child can enjoy movement and sport.

Sports at The Mon
We believe in the value of sport in the lives of young boys – promoting teamwork, resilience, fitness, and confidence. Throughout the year, we offer a wide range of opportunities for pupils to represent the school, often playing competitive sport for the first time.
Our pupils take part in:

- Badminton - The Kerry Schools Primary Schools Badminton Competition
- Basketball - Kerry Primary Schools Super Sevens
- Gaelic Football – Cumann na mBunscoil, Mini-Sevens, Garda Blitz and our long-standing in-house School League every June.
- Olympic Handball - Competition run by Olympic Handball Ireland
- Pitch & Putt - Tommy Galvin Shield Interschools Pitch and Putt competition
- Rugby - County blitz run by Munster Rugby
Soccer – FAI outdoor Primary 5s and Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre indoor 5-a-side blitzes

- Swimming – taught in The Aquila Club by qualified instructors
- Gymnastics – delivered by external instructors
In addition, pupils benefit from regular expert coaching in:
- Tag Rugby with Ray – focusing on fundamental movement skills, fitness and games
- GAA skills coaching with Vince Cooper and placement students
- Yoga – with certified instructors
- Volleyball – with TY students in Presentation Secondary School
- Climbing Wall – at St. Brendan’s College with a climbing instructor and TY leaders
- Cycle Right Training and bike trips around the National Park
- Pitch & Putt – for 6th Class boys
We are committed to making physical activity a positive and regular part of school life for all children. Whether through structured PE, team sports, or active play, movement and wellbeing are at the heart of what we do.
